The view and references

Your view of the model belongs to your browser. Referencing geometry is how you tell the agent exactly what you mean.

To Do this
Rotate Drag
Pan Shift and drag
Zoom Scroll
Jump to a standard view Click a face of the orientation cube, top right. Click its edges or corners for angled views.

The view is orthographic, so sizes don't change with distance.

Section and hide parts

Turn on the section plane, choose its axis, move it and flip its direction to look inside. The cut shows the original surfaces; it doesn't change the design. You can also hide individual parts.

Reference geometry

  • Click a face, or near an edge, to add it to your message.
  • Double-click a part to reference the whole part.
  • Option-click (Alt-click on Windows and Linux) to reference an exact point on a surface.

Each reference appears as a bubble where your cursor is, so you can write move this hole 5 mm toward this edge. Hover a bubble, or move to it with the keyboard, to highlight its geometry. Remove one with its × or Backspace. In a design with several parts, bubbles include the part's name.

A reference stays valid while its geometry is unchanged, including when other parts change or its own part moves as a whole. If its geometry changes, the bubble is marked: remove it and pick the geometry again before you send.

When you write "this"

The view you had when you sent a message is saved with it. If you write this without a reference, the agent can look at that view.

During a turn

Navigation stays available while the agent works. When the result arrives, your camera stays where you left it.
